A delegation from the Eritrean Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, headed by the Grand Mufti of Eritrea, Sheikh Salim Ibrahim Al-Mukhtar, visited the Catholic Archdiocese of Asmara, the capital of Eritrea. Mourners gathered at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Rosary and offered their condolences to His Eminence Archbishop Mengestab Tesfamariam, President of the Assembly of Catholic Priests of Eritrea and Archbishop of Asmara. The delegation commended Pope Francis for his role in supporting and promoting dialogue and peace. His visits to Africa and his messages of solidarity with the marginalized have left an unforgettable impression on many Eritreans, who remember him as a spiritual leader committed to unity and dignity for all.
Despite the restrictions on the Catholic community’s activities, many ambassadors from countries accredited to Asmara offered their condolences to the Catholic Archbishop of Eritrea.

ካብ ሚኒስትሪ ኤርትረያን ኤርትሮስ ኢንዶውመንትን እስላማዊ ጉዳያትን ዝመጸ ልኡኽ፡ ብዓቢ ሙፍቲ ኤሪትረያ ዝምራሕ ሸኽ ሳሊም ኢብራሂም ኣል-ሙክታር፡ ናብ ካቶሊካዊ ሊቀ ጳጳሳት ኣስማራ፡ ርእሰ ከተማ ኤሪትራ በጽሐ። ሓዘንተኛታት ኣብ ካቴድራል እመቤትና እመቤትና ተኣኪቦም ነቲ ርኹስ ሊቀ ጳጳስ መንገስታብ ተስፋማሪያም ፕረሲደንት ካህናት ካቶሊካውያን ካህናት ኤሪትርያን ሊቀ ጳጳስን ኣስማራን ፅንዓት ሃበን። እቲ ልኡኽ ንርእሰ ሊቃነ ጳጳሳት ፍራንቸስኮስ ኣብ ምድጋፍን ምድንፋዕን ዘተን ሰላምን ስለ ዝነበሮም ንኢዱ። ናብ ኣፍሪቃ ዝገበሮ ምብጻሕን ምስቲ ዝተገለለ ናይ ምትሕግጋዝ መልእኽትታትን ኣብ ልዕሊ ብዙሓት ኤርትረያውያን ዘይርሳዕ ጦብላሕታ ገዲፉዎ ኣሎ፣ ንሳቶም ድማ ንሓድነትን ክብርን ቃል ዝኣተወ መንፈሳዊ መራሒ ኮይኑ ዝዝክሮም እዩ።
ኣብ ንጥፈታት ማሕበረሰብ ካቶሊክ ገደብ እኳ እንተገበረ፡ ብዙሓት ኣምባሳደራት ካብተን ናብ ኣስማራ ተፈላጥነት ዘለወን ሃገራት፡ ንካቶሊካዊ ሊቀ ጳጳስ ኤርትረያ ጽንዓት ከም ዝህባ ይህባ ነበራ።
