Erdogan, al-Sharaa discuss latest Syria developments in phone conversation
Syria’s President Ahmed al-Sharaa and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan have held a phone call, according to the SANA news agency.
It said al-Sharaa stressed the importance of extending state sovereignty over all of Syrian territory, while Erdogan spoke about his country’s support for efforts to enhance security and stability in Syria.
Turkiye considers the SDF a “terrorist organisation” because of its association with the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, or PKK, which has waged a decades-long conflict on its soil, although a peace process is now under way.
