USCRI commends Representative Ilhan Omar and her 43 Congressional colleagues for urging transparency from the White House and the Department of Homeland Security on deporting\u00a0#<\/span>Eritreans<\/span><\/span><\/a>denied asylum and currently living in the U.S. You can read her letter here\u00a0bit.ly\/33d2vER<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In 2017, USCRI co-signed an appeal, led by The America Team for Displaced Eritreans and signed by 67 additional NGOs saying, \u201cWe believe, and we can cite numerous authorities to confirm, that those removed to Eritrea would likely be tortured or killed by the Eritrean regime. We also believe that any such removal not only would be egregiously inhumane, but would violate the United Nations Convention Against Torture and the United Nations Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees to which the U.S. is party.\u201dciting torture and death for those deported.
